About Mr. Pink's Shop Masks
I’ve read there are a lot of scammers and cheap masks out there. Why should I trust you?
Mr. Pink’s is a sister company of our hospitality company, BANGTEL. For seven years, Bangtel has hosted and looked after guests in their curated vacation rentals. Our primary focus has always been design, function, practicality and our guest’s safety.
When there was a mask shortage, our family who is in healthcare expressed a need. We knew we had to do something.
We have been featured in The Chicago Tribune, Prevention, Good Housekeeping, Oprah Magazine, Time Out Chicago, DoLA and Do312. Aldermen in Chicago refer us regularly and we are worn by healthcare professionals all around the United States. Workers in healthcare wear Mr. Pink’s facemasks over the top of their N95 masks to prolong their usage and make mask wearing more cheerful for their patients.
Do you support charitable organizations?
Yes, Mr. Pink’s started when our family who work in healthcare expressed a need for face masks. We make donations to hospitals, healthcare and essential workers.
Also, for the month of June we donated to the Brave Space Alliance in Chicago that helps
fill a gap in the organizing of and services to trans and gender-nonconforming people.
All of our Pride Mask sales went direct to the Brave Space Alliance. Also, for every Mr. Pink’s Cloth Mask purchased, we donated two masks to Brave Space Alliance.

Where are your masks made?
Our masks are hand sewn in Palm Springs, California by our team of seamstresses who are paid living wages and would otherwise be unemployed at this time. Thank you for supporting them.
What are your masks made out of?
The majority of our face masks are made from three layers of 100% cotton. Some face masks feature polyester, waterproof fabrics and sequins!
Our clear mask, SpeakEasy, has a clear vinyl that we use for the transparent window.
All materials used are featured in the description of each face mask
Do you sell cloth face masks for kids?
Yes! We have 19 fun and stylish kids masks. Browse our kid’s mask collection here.
Are all your cloth face masks the same?
No, they are different. We have seven distinct styles (currently as we are always adding to the line-up); Three Layer with Filter Pocket, Two Layer Lite, Nightrider and Happy Hour Canvas Series, our clear window SpeakEasy, Bridal, Waterproof, and Kids. Mr. Pink’s Three Layer with Filter Pocket is how we got started. There are three layers as advised by the CDC to provide the most protection. There is a filter pocket that allows you to regularly switch out your filter and wash. Our Nightider and Happy Hour Canvas Series are made from a 100% Cotton Duck Canvas. The fabric has more structure and makes a house around the face that allows the wearer to breath easy. It is more durable and used often by essential workers in the construction and labor trades. The Two Layer Lite was made as a lighter option for the summer heat. The SpeakEasy is a face mask with a clear window for communication ease and lip reading. Mr. Pink’s Commando waterproof option is another durable fabric that has been chosen by construction laborers and crews. Our Bridal series is for The Big Day. Mr. Pink’s Kid’s masks make wearing a mask fun. We also make a Maverick eye mask that has been designed to be a perfect fit with any of Mr. Pink’s face masks.

How does a cloth face mask protect you?
According to the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) website, “cloth face mask coverings may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others”. This is because having layers of cloth and cotton between your face, the air you breathe and the others around you helps reduce transmission of droplets. While it is not 100% guaranteed to prevent infectious spread, it is effective to reduce chances of transmission. Image credit - cdc.gov
What can be used as a filter?
A filter inserted into the pocket on the back of the mask may serve as an added layer of protection from transmission. We have a link to the PM2.5MASK Activated Carbon Filter, that customers have purchased for use in our masks. You should be able to breathe comfortably while wearing the mask and filter.
What’s the proper way to wear a cloth face mask?
Wearing a cloth face mask is more than just tying a knot. Johns Hopkins Medicine recommends following these steps when wearing a cloth face mask; Wash or disinfect your hands prior to touching the mask. Touch only the lanyard or elastic loops when you pick up your mask. Fasten the mask to your head or ears, making sure the mask covers your nose, mouth and chin. It is good practice to speak out loud before leaving your home, to ensure the mask remains in position while you move your mouth. This should help you avoid touching your mask later, after your hands have touched public surfaces. When you are ready to remove your mask, first wash or disinfect your hands. Remove the mask, being careful to only touch the lanyard or elastic loops. Place the mask in a reusable, sealable plastic bag for future washing, or directly into the washing machine.
How to test if you are wearing a cloth face mask properly
There are some simple ways to check if you are wearing a cloth face mask properly. Hold it up to a light. If you can see the light through the fabric on the mask, you should consider adding a filter or getting a new mask. Try to blow out a candle, match or lighter while wearing your mask. If you are unable to blow out a small candle in front of your face, then your mask is suitable. If you are able to easily blow out a candle, consider adding a filter or getting a new mask.
How to wash and dry a cloth face mask
Washing a cloth face mask is just like washing your delicates. We advise to hand wash only to avoid fabric fraying and prolonging the life of your face mask. Treat the mask as you would any other delicate garment. For the longest life of your mask, we recommend hand washing your face mask in warm or hot water with detergent or dish soap. After, lay your face mask flat to air dry. Once the face mask is dry, you may iron your face mask on the Cotton or Polyester setting, whichever fabric content your mask fabric is. Make sure to double check your fabric content before ironing. You can always reach out to us to double check your fabric content. The information can also be found on our Mr. Pink’s website in the description of your face mask.
What if I do not have time to hand wash my face mask?
We have customers that have reported to regularly machine wash their face masks and tell us that works great. We advise not doing this, but understand if you need or want to. It is your mask and you can do what you want with it. We recommend putting the mask in a garment bag and washing on the delicate cycle on warm or hot. We can not stand behind the quality or life of the mask, if you machine wash and the item starts to fray.
How long can you wear a cloth face mask?
A cloth mask with a filter will suffice for hours of wear. Filters such as PM2.5MASK Activated Carbon Filter will wear out over time depending on usage. For example, wearing your mask for eight hours per day on a daily basis will deteriorate the filter much quicker than if you wear the mask for only two hours a day. Ideally, you should wash your mask after every use to fully rid it of germs. It is best to have multiple masks so that you can be equipped with a mask while the other one is in the wash.
How to stop glasses fogging up while wearing a mask
A common problem for people wearing glasses is that the lenses may fog up while wearing a face mask. Mr. Pink’s face masks are designed to be a tailored close fit around the nose and eyes allowing for a clear view while being completely covered. Some customers like the addition of a nosewire. For this, we offer a complimentary service to add on some of our masks. There may be an extra lead time for this addition.
